![]() An endpoint exists somewhere in the distance, but it is not yet visible. We can only reach the other side one step at a time. ![]() The journey is uncertain and possibly dangerous. In some ways, crossing that scary bridge is like making our way through this pandemic. I took my time to pause, marvel at what I was doing, and enjoy the view. There was no rush to make it to the other side. And, do you know what? I did not feel afraid. My husband, however, who is afraid of heights, yet more afraid of missing out on a top attraction said, “We have to do this!” Not being one to dampen vacation enthusiasm, I whispered a little lighthearted prayer something like, “God, please don’t let me be flung into the river,” and off we went on our adventure.īefore arriving, I found some helpful advice online for anyone scared of walking across the bridge– “stay centered, take sure steps, and focus on your goal.” Keeping these strategies in mind, I stepped onto the bridge. Just thinking about stepping away from solid ground onto its lengthy, swaying surface suspended high over a rocky river heightened my anxiety. Walking over it was NOT at the top of my vacation to-do list. The Capilano Suspension Bridge spans 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above the Capilano River. While we were on a trip in Vancouver, British Columbia, my husband and I researched top attractions and discovered Capilano Suspension Bridge Park… Crossing the bridge This past month, as routines have shifted and emotions have wavered, I found myself thinking about another experience where I felt less steady on my feet. I feel unsettled, and I imagine you do too. Suddenly, pursuing peace is a daily, often hourly, endeavor. The rapid worldwide spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has swept chaos and confusion into every corner of our lives–work and school, vacations and sports, food and shopping, church services, and even haircut appointments. Just saying those words sets my heart and mind a little more at ease in these trying and uncertain times. When we put all in His care, we can be rest assured that we are safe in His Hands and our future is secure in Him.Perfect peace. When we believe and trust Him absolutely, He watches and fights on our behalf so that we are not consumed by the battles of life. For as long as our defense is unshakable, our defeat is not possible. The three Hebrew boys in Daniel chapter 6, chose to trust in God and the result was mind blowing! The fire that could not have any effect on them was the same that burnt their adversaries to ashes. While Peter focused on Jesus, he could come out of the troubled boat and walk on water towards Jesus, but the moment he shifted his focus to the wind, he began to sink. Anytime we make Jesus our focus, our peace is sustained, and we have permanent peace irrespective of the raging storms of life. He is worthy of being trusted today, tomorrow, and forever. With God’s unchanging love and mighty power, we are not perturbed by the raging sea. Look on to God and not at the situation or the pressures of life or the medical doctor’s report. ![]() Psalms 125:1 says “They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.” In other words, those who trust in God cannot be moved, their security is guaranteed in the immunity of God. Only those that trust in God are entitled to triumph over the circumstances of life without sweat. Trusting in the Almighty God brings victory in the battles of life. When we come to Christ by an act of faith, He gives us the Holy Spirit that produces the fruit of the Spirit and gives us the peace that passes all understanding. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. It is also written in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. ”Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”(Matthew 11:28). The Lord’s Promises are very clear and understandable. He is our everlasting strength, and as we trust in Him, He brings all things to pass. When we are devoted to Him, our whole attitude is steady and stable, as we experience His perfect peace. ![]() The Hebrew word for “Peace” here is “Shalom” the rest of God, wherein is prosperity, wholeness, welfare, health, strength, protection, power, deliverance and victory. So, where our hearts and minds are, determines the peace we enjoy. God keeps in perfect peace those whose hearts are stayed on Him. Having a heart stayed on God is a secret of the peace of God. ![]() It is evident from our anchored Scripture that God keeps in peace all who put their trust in Him. ![]()
